The Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) is the largest flying parrot species in the world, native to central and eastern South America.
Physical Characteristics
- Size: About 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) in length, making it the longest parrot.
- Weight: Between 1.2–1.7 kg (2 lb 10 oz – 3 lb 12 oz).
- Coloration: Stunning cobalt blue feathers with bright yellow rings around the eyes and a yellow patch beside the lower bill.
- Beak: Large and powerful, capable of cracking hard nuts and seeds.
- Wingspan: 130–150 cm (51–59 in).
Behavior & Habitat
- Social birds, often seen in pairs or small groups.
- Found in palm swamps, woodlands, and savanna grasslands across Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay.
